One of my favorite places to visit and view to see in all of Los Angeles is that of the Griffith. Griffith Observatory is almost as awe-inspiring as the Hollywood sign and is a must-visit when in SoCal. Truth be told, most locals never actually go inside the observatory they come to this spot on the south slope of Mount Hollywood for the unparalleled city views. Griffith Observatory: Stargazing, Tesla Coil & LA Skyline.

There's also the 200-seat Leonard Nimoy Event Horizon Theater (go Spock!), a Wolfgang Puck "Café at the End of the Universe," and several Zeiss and solar telescopes for public use both day and night. The observatory also features 60 space-related exhibits designed to "sparkle your imagination," the highlight being the largest astronomically accurate image ever produced - a 20*152-foot porcelain enamel dazzler that's cleverly called "The Big Picture." It supposedly encompasses a million galaxies, but I lost count after 11.

The central dome houses the 300-seat Samuel Oschin Planetarium, where hourly screenings of a narrated 30-minute projection show called "Centered in the Universe" reveal the stars and planets that are hidden from the naked eye by the city's ubiquitous lights and smog. Closed for renovation for what seemed like forever, it finally reopened in November 2006 after a $93-million overhaul. There, she is a member of the Palm Springs Museum of Art and a prominent Old Las Palmas-area patron.Made world-famous in the film Rebel Without a Cause, Griffith Observatory's bronze domes have been Hollywood Hills landmarks since 1935. Experience a selection of its main attractions including ocean views and the Walk of Fame. There’s plenty to do including walking through the observatory exhibits, seeing a planetarium show or looking through telescopes. Griffith Observatory is open: Thu - Fri 12:00 PM - 10:00 PM Sat - Sun 10:00 AM - 10:00 PM. Get a feel for the City of Angels with this full-day tour to some of its key sights. The first public exhibition of a Foucault pendulum took place in February 1851 in the Meridian of the Paris Observatory.A few weeks later, Foucault made his most famous pendulum when he suspended a 28-kilogram (62 lb) brass-coated lead bob with a 67-metre long (220 ft) wire from the dome of the Panthon, Paris.
